My life as a Vandy fan...

So, it wasn't until I met Mr. Lucas that I followed Vanderbilt Athletics. What began as something fun to do while we dated, has turned into ALL we do now that we are married. I used to fight it, but now I have accepted that I, too, will be a Vandy fan for life. (I am kinda like a Vandy fan once removed because it is only by marriage.)

We attend all home football games, rain or shine, all home basketball games, and most home baseball games. What once was an occasional date has now become our lives. The last time Mr. Lucas told me he was proud of me was not for my new job or because I did something exceptional, but because I had a conversation with someone about the all-star recruiting class and the dynamics of a young basketball team.

I can say, with the recent #6 win against Kentucky (the last 6 game winning season being in 1982- Yes, I know this.) I can say that I am so excited about this Saturday's early game.

It is going to be a great weekend, and it is only Wednesday.

All things considered... GO DORES~

This past week, I was out of town for a work conference. It was quite a trip! 3 days, 1, 100 employees and a bomb threat. Yes, bomb threat. I will always remember my first conference, that is for sure! At about 8:30 Wednesday morning, the hotel alarm went off. While we thought someone pulled the fire alarm or Lord forbid there was an actually fire, we never expected to see the BOMB squad arrive. As they ushered us out of the hotel the "authorities" began a room by room sweep. Wednesday began in a rather dramatic way, and it so happened that it ended that way too. Check out our 'disco themed' dinner...

While in Memphis, I had the chance to stop by and visit with a sorority sister. She has the cutest shop right downtown.

Our house in coming along so quickly. Last week, we did our electrical walk through and despite all the rain, the hardworking men installed our plumbing! We are so excited that we are right on schedule. We cannot believe that it is mid-November and we only have a few more months until completion. Soon they will begin to insulate and drywall. It is really taking shape.

So, that is it for now, our busy lives in a few words.
To be continued....

Home Sweet Home (on its way)

We are making so much progress on the house. Everyday, more and more gets completed. Last Friday, I stopped by the bakery and picked up some cookies for the workers. I hope they enjoyed them! They didn't seem to understand that I was trying to say 'Thank you' for all of their hardwork. (Or I was confusing them with my broken Spanish--Mr. Lucas informed me that I was saying 'Thank you for your home')
